Sandy McAlpine leading the conversation on planning for 2027 at her Myrtle Beach workshop.
Last week, we brought agents together in Myrtle Beach for Sandy McAlpine’s 2027 Planning Workshop. It was an opportunity to step away from the calls, appointments, and everyday responsibilities of real estate and spend time thinking about the year ahead.
What do we want our businesses to look like in 2027? What is working well enough to carry forward? Where do we need to make changes?
Those questions shaped our time together. With Sandy leading the workshop, we worked through the numbers, habits, and decisions behind a business plan—and made space for the conversations that come from being in a room with others doing the same work.
Taking Time to Look Honestly at the Year Ahead
There is something valuable about setting aside time specifically for planning. In a regular workweek, it is easy to keep moving from one immediate responsibility to the next. Looking closely at the business itself can get pushed back.
During the workshop, we gave that work our attention.
We looked at lead sources, conversations, appointments, follow-up, and how those pieces connect to closings. The focus was on understanding what supports a business and where a more intentional approach could help.
For us, that was an important part of the day: giving agents room to think honestly about where they are and what they want to build next. Planning for 2027 began with paying attention to the business in front of us.
Working Through the Actions Behind the Goals
As we worked through the planning process, we kept returning to the smaller actions behind a larger goal.
Wanting a stronger year is a starting point. The next step is figuring out what that means during an ordinary week: the conversations to start, the follow-up to complete, the appointments to work toward, and the time to protect.
We spent time connecting those daily activities to the bigger picture. That made the planning feel relevant to the work agents would return to after the workshop.
One idea we kept coming back to was that a business plan should be something we can actually use. When the calendar fills up or priorities compete for our attention, it should help us decide where to focus. We wanted the work we were doing together to have a place in everyday business long after the event.
Learning From the Experience in the Room
One of the parts we appreciated most was hearing people share the experiences behind their results.
There is a lot to learn from the decisions, habits, mistakes, and adjustments that happen along the way. Those conversations give context to advice and make it easier to understand how an idea might apply to our own work.
We were grateful to the people who shared their time and perspective with the group. Their willingness to speak openly added another dimension to the planning process.
Real estate can feel individual when each person is managing their own clients, follow-up, and responsibilities. Being together gave us a chance to listen, compare perspectives, and learn from experiences beyond our own.
The Conversations Between Sessions
Some of the moments that stayed with us came from the conversations between sessions.
As agents thought through their businesses, questions came up. Those exchanges gave people space to talk about where they felt stuck, consider a different approach, or put a challenge into words.
That is part of why we value bringing people together. A workshop creates time for focused learning, and it also creates opportunities for conversations that might never happen during a busy workday.
We appreciated everyone who asked a question, offered a perspective, or took time to listen. Those contributions helped shape the experience just as much as the planning itself.
Looking back, we are grateful for the willingness everyone brought to the day—to reflect, participate, and begin doing the work of preparing for 2027.
What stays with us from the workshop is the openness of the conversations—the willingness to ask questions, share experiences, and think honestly about what comes next. Sandy brought agents together to work on their plans for 2027, and the people in the room made that experience meaningful.
Thank you to everyone who spent the day with us. We’re looking forward to seeing how the ideas discussed and connections made carry into the year ahead.
